Work in Two Shows

This month I have work that is featured in two shows. My Library Posters, which you can see on my website, were accepted to the “Not Yet Famous Artist Revealed” annual student show. This year it is being held in Wilmington as part of the Wilmington Art Loop. I also had a painting selected to being in the Star-bucks Student show in Downtown Newark.

Flash Graphs using a Database

So I have done some research creating flash graphs from a database. Here are some of the sites that I found.

Haiti T-Shirt

We were asked by a student group to design some t-shirts to raise money for a hospital in haiti. They would need to sell 1500 t-shirts to reach there goal. We came up with the idea that each person was needed to make this happen, so each shirt would say “One of the 1500″ to show this off. We also made this awesome crest to make the shirt awesome. I worked with Karen DeMaio and Chelsea Ness on this project.

New Media post

Starting Flash. Flash is pretty cool. I like how you use the stage and actual objects as well as the programing. You have to go back and forth. Its also nice to be able to preview what you are doing to see if it works. Action Script 3 is a little different then 2. Still trying to get used to that. I would really like to learn how to use .as files instead of the actions window, because it seems like a cleaner way to code.

This dynamic text seems like it will be pretty interesting. I am interested in art as a system, or art as a filter. Its similar to what you are doing with a drawing, for instance. You take the visual information, the light and the objects, and you filter it through your perception and your style, and bam there is a drawing. This is not using you as a filter though, you are creating a filter and taking content from other places. Pretty cool.

New Media, Michael Hersrud, and an update

This is a textural landscape piece that I forgot I had. It was from a workshop done with Michael Hersrud, who came to are school and gave a talk. He was a really cool guy and was very helpful. His work is also really cool. He likes to use a lot of layers of analog and digital things, but he makes it work all in the same poster.

Basically finished the Audio Visual Narrative. I few tweeks is all it needs. I can’t believe it came together in a week. I feel like it feels complete, even if the footage is a little rough. This project was definitely a learning experience for me (and I think the whole class) on what it takes to make a movie.

New York Trip this Thursday. Should be pretty awesome. Hopefully going to go see the Tim Burton exhibit/experience at MOMA. Tim Burton is awesome. This week I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do after college and how I want my life to look. Not really sure yet.

AV2

Here it the finished AV2. I was a pretty fun project and I though it came out pretty good. The video quality on the upload is pretty bad though.

AV2 Progress video

Here is the in progress video for this project. Have run into may problems getting the video from camera to after effects. This was made with the first few clips I could use.

New Media week 3

This week, went to go see DressCode. We ended up getting lost and being 50 mins late to there talk, but it was still worth it. They are awesome guys and they are not that much older then me. Main things I got from the lecture:

1- People will remember a good concept, even if the craft is not great.

2- Take on projects you are not sure you can handle. It will be hard and a lot of work, but you will learn a lot really fast.

3- Even if you have a job, do work on the side, even if it’s probono. Keeps you fresh and helps build that portfolio.

As far as New Media goes, shot tons of video for this project but now the editing begins. I not sure if I will finish in time. On the other hand, my proposal for this project was way more modest then anyone elses.

AV Narrative Inspiration

This video is similar to the idea I have. Lots of cuts the synch to the music, and not a really clear story line.  Also, no sounds from the film.

The Unpredictable Nature

You never know what you will find on film these days. This video just reminds me that even though the chances of something happening may be slim, you never know.

Its a longer video but it is worth watching all the way through. Just to give you and idea, it goes: Lion attack Bison, Alligators attack Lions, Bison Attack Lions.
